What massively popular thing do you predict will be gone in ten years?

Did I say anything like that? No. I said what happened here on Reddit was stupid. The entire free speech debacle happening in the world doesn't really apply to Reddit. You do realize that the people that own and run this place have the right to shut it down the second they want to, right? That you are, by no means, entitled to anything on this site. Anything. That means that when enough bad press happens to this site (like fat people being harassed and extremely racist pictures being created about the CEO) the people who run this place can do whatever the hell they feel like is right to fix it.

If the people who run Reddit don't feel like it is a good thing to have racists and hateful bigots all over the news and their front page, then they will remove it. No one's speech is protected on this site, it's not a public space. It's a privately owned forum that is letting people come in and comment. They aren't caving to pressure from the SJWs or thought police. They are squashing bad PR by banning things they don't think is good for business.

It's the ignorant users like you who actually believe this place is a bastion of free speech. Ignorant people like you who stand up for racists and bigots on an internet site because you think it is somehow tied to Charlie Hebdo or other terrible atrocities. Go fight for free speech with Charlie Hebdo, that is a legitimate fear. Go to a college campus and maybe actually experience more than the few people protesting in the quad about social issues (because it is being made out to be a way worse problem than it actually is). But don't drag stupid shit like Reddit along with you. The issues of this site have nothing to do with actual free speech in everyday life. Nothing.

Also, censorship is not always bad. It really isn't. This place is a fucking cesspool of racists and hateful young people who think they are entitled to say whatever they want without people getting upset or offended. Well guess what, people did get offended and even if you don't agree that they should, they did. Because of people feeling so entitled, this privately run site decided to censor as much horrible shit as they could. The US government didn't do it, the privately owned site did and because they did, this place is a little more bearable to the average, non-racist, user.
