What is a misconception about your country that you are tired of seeing in the media/reddit.

We don't actually live off tourism. That's the coast.

Most Croats live in the other northern bit - or the "irrelevant" bit, as I hear strangers (tourists) call it. Industry, agriculture, stuff like that. I guess that if you can compare it to something, then it resembles southern Hungary (Pannonnian plain, d'oh).

Other stuff would be the general Yugo-stereotypes or Slav-stereotypes.

No, we don't squat around (stupid-Russian stereotype). Nike is as common as Adidas, and both are worn by either schoolkids or people jogging. When I mention Russia already, yes, Moscow is literally more distant than London or Dublin, and no, we're not their buddies. We're not triggered by them either... no offense to Russians, we just don't have much to do with each other. Also, we're not Orthodox, we don't write in Cyrillic, I'd say most can't even read it anymore. We picked Rome over Constantinople and Istanbul (yes, I call them that on purpose).

We have burek, though, I guess that's something. And the Turbofolk infestation. Some days I get half-convinced that Turbofolk is Serbia's notion of cruel and unusual revenge >.<
