What was the moment or game that got you into fighting games?

I'm pretty old, but I have 3 entry points.

First, 8 year old me learned how to perform a sonic boom in SF2, a random classmate asked me if I knew how, then he told me. He's still my best friend today.

Then 12 year old me learned how to play Mortal Kombat 3 well enough to beat the older kids at the arcade.

Then 16 year old me sat down with said best friend to play Tekken 3 every weekend for months on end on Playstation 1, losing usually embarrassingly 0 - 30 something, until the nuance of the game really started to sink in. Then Tekken Tag came out and juggling became a thing and I was fully hooked because I finally got to a point where I was actually playing the game the way it was supposed to be played. I could see someone do something amazing and I could imitate it well enough for me to develop my own style. I developed fundamentals to apply to other fighting games and started playing soul calibur. Both Namco fighters are my primary games. I stopped playing during the dark ages, but I picked them back up, adjusted, and it was just like riding a bike.
