When: Just after the House Transfer Deed update

The Story: I was in the market for a house for awhile, having saved up enough gold. A guy at Minoc bank overheard me talking about it to my friend and mentioned that he had a small house north of town that he'd sell. We ran out to the house and made him change the house sign from "For Sale" to "Pending Sale" to show he owned it. We negotiated the price, and I went off to the bank to cut a check for 90,000 gold.

I returned to the house and he came out and greeted me. He brought up the trade window with the deed. I checked and it did indeed say "a deed to a small house," so I put my check in the window and we traded. I went to change the house sign and... what's this? It says I don't have access to that. It says I'm not the owner. "What's going on here?" I demanded. "I'm not sure what you mean," came the arrogant reply.

At that moment, a white hare hopped out from behind the house. ... No, it couldn't be. I clicked on the rabbit to bring up its name: "a small house"

"You scammed me you bastard!" roared. Immediately I paged a Game Master to report the scam and get my money back. "I'm reporting your ass right now." To his credit, the guy didn't log off or run away; he waited with me for the GM to appear. When he did, I explained what happened. The asshole scammer then had this to say:

I'm sorry that [Indy_Pendant] was confused about the transaction, and that he now regrets purchasing this fine rabbit for the modest sum of 90,000 gold. If he is dissatisfied with his purchase, I will gladly offer a full refund in exchange for the rabbit.

Well, that was unexpected, but I guess he just didn't want to get banned. "Fine, yes, trade me back."

Right then, a guy comes out of the house, someone who I hadn't seen before. He walked out, sliced the rabbit dead with his katana, and walked back inside.

Oh, I'm very sorry. I'm can't possibly offer you a refund now. These goods have clearly been damaged.

The GM laughed. The goddamned GM laughed. ... And then he disappeared, leaving me with a rabbit corpse that cost me 90,000 gold.

God-fucking-damnit...
