When my nephew was ~7 he started spending most weekends with us and would never fall asleep. I figured the trick was to show him boring movies until he passed out. As he got older I was the one passing out first but that's another story. So one night I put on Titanic. Jesus, it became his favorite movie. We must have watched that movie 2 dozen times. I realized something, strip away the sap and it is actually a good movie. Great effects, direction even the plot (sappy yes but coherent) and memorable characters. Go ahead name Leonardo's character (hint: J***). Even if you hate the movie you probably remember his name where as Avatar? Nope, not a single name or even character. There was no development, no connection, nothing. I have no interest in seeing it again and if came on TV I wouldn't bother stopping. Signorney Weaver was in it, right?
