During the fire service strike of 2002 (UK) , the Green Goddess vehicles were in service instead of the normal fire engines. They were really cool, old vehicles and I was interested in them.

Anyway, one night my babysitter was driving my sister, her sons and myself back from someplace, and we passed by a car on fire. I mean really ablaze. This was in an abandoned hotel carpark, in a rough area so we figured it was just some teens burning a wreck. My babysitter asked if we wanted to go see the Green Goddesses put it out, to which we all said yes,.

The fire went out pretty fast. I could see something inside the car, i thought it was a burned up car seat, but then I realised what it was. They were yelling to each other a lot, and smashing at the windows and suddenly my babysitter ushered us all back into the car and drove away. She said we might get in trouble for parking too close.

The next day my friend asks if I heard about the fire. Turns out that a neighbor of ours had driven her car to the abandoned car park, doused herself and her car with petrol or something and burned herself alive in a suicide. I'd actually been looking at her burned up body, that poor poor woman.

I still have nightmares about watching that women go.
