Cold turkey was the way for me.
I use to smoke 20 Lambert & Butler every single day for about 7 years and then on 1/1/12 I managed to quit using Nicorette chewing gum for about 6 or 7 weeks but I ended up becoming addicted to the [Nicorette chewing gum so I decided to just start smoking again.
Then I tried again to quit smoking on 1/1/13 but this time I decided to do it cold turkey without any Nicorette smoking aids but I did use normal non Nicotine Wrigley's chewing gum though, I went through about 1 and a half packets a day for the 1st month, 1 pack a day for the 2nd month, half a pack a day for the 3rd month.
Now nearly 2 years later the only time I use normal non Nicotine chewing gun is when I feel a strong urge to smoke which is usually every 3 - 4 weeks.
Things I noticed since quitting smoking:
*1 Drink a LOT more coffee, When I smoked I use to just have one coffee every morning now I drink at 4 or 5 coffees every single day,.
*2 When I smoked I use to eat a LOT of spicy Indian, Mexican and Italian food but now I have to make and eat food that isn't as spicy as my taste buds can't handle the spiciness that I because use while I smoked.
*3 I feel healthy and not as tired during the day as I did when I smoked.
*4 Money I saved from not buying Cigarettes, I seem to have got into the habit of saving the money that would off been spent on smoking monthly and spending that on things that I don't really need but enjoy having like this month I am spending the monthly smoking money on a 2nd monitor then I plan on saving up 2 months of smoking money and buying a PS4 to go with my Xbox one and gaming PC.
All in all quitting smoking is the best thing I have done for my self in a VERY long time.
