What movie ending ruined the whole movie for you?

Broad take - not a movie, a trilogy of movies. The Star Wars sequels were terribly ballsed up.

As a massive fan of The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, It’s so depressing. TFA, still one of my favourite (top 3) Star Wars films because it is unequivocally Star Wars-y. Rehash on A New Hope? Sure. Promises a fun, mysterious, exciting few movies to come? Yes indeed. Lots of stuff to speculate about and the film is beautifully done, heaps of great moments, not exactly original but what I wanted!

TLJ was a brave film that took its “you won’t get what you want” message a touch too far, but I admired it for its courage and insistence on putting Star Wars in a place it had never gone before. A few things poorly done, but overall this was an original take on a stale-ish idea that had me intrigued for the finale. How do you finish this, tie this trilogy up in a satisfying manner with the story in such a new and malleable place?

In short, you don’t. Rise of Skywalker is not for me as painful as Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones - but it’s closer than I dare to imagine. So many squandered opportunities, so much abysmal writing, atrocious pacing, terrible character work...such a let down. At the least, I hoped for coherency and consistency - not even close. The trilogy is derailed because of this mess of a film, I was and am so disappointed. Pretty sad for Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver and John Boyega as their characters, who had some much potential at the end of TFA, were eventually one by one ran into the ground.

How did this happen?
