What was the nastiest house you've ever been in?

My parents' apartment. My dad is a hoarder and my mom is disabled so no one really cleans. They're too ashamed to let anyone see how bad it is so they won't hire someone to come clean for them or let any family members help. So it's just a mess. The walls are permanently stained yellow from my mom's years of smoking. The carpet is stained and torn up. There's a layer of cat hair over everything and the bathroom smells like cat piss. There are always mountains of dirty laundry in the hallway and on the bathroom floor. There are stacks and piles of mail, papers, boxes, and junk everywhere that my dad refuses to get rid of. Everything has a layer of grime and dust on it. There is mold visibly growing in the bathroom and kitchen. The appliances are old and most of them haven't been replaced or upgraded once in the 20+ years they've lived there. There's a gaping hole in my old bedroom wall because my dad had to do some DIY plumbing work for the shower. It's just a disaster.

I can't believe I grew up there. It wasn't as bad as it is now when I was a kid but it was still pretty nasty. I feel bad for my parents, though, and I wish they were willing to accept help.
