What do I need to know to enjoy the Rumble?

  • State of the WWE as a company: Transitional. Lots of young talent. Looking for the next big thing. They want a new Cena, Rock, Austin, Hogan type of money man.

  • State of fans: On edge. WWE has anointed Roman Reigns (formerly of the Shield group, and current WWE Champion) to be the next big guy...to much controversy..many people don't want an anointed guy, they don't think he deserves all the attention they give him.

  • Current storyline: One vs. All. The Authority (The Mcmahons + HHH) have made the Royal Rumble match for Roman's WWE Championship. They've stacked the odds against him & Roman is coming in # 1 of 30 entrants. Winner headlines Wrestlemania, the superbowl of the Wrestling year in a couple months.

  • People have been trying to figure out what the heck story they'll roll out with. If Roman wins, that means he beat the entire roster. That ruffles some feathers, because they feel he's being shoved down the fans throats. But...if he's not going to win who will?

Possible alternates to Roman winning:

  • Brock Lesnar- Former WWE Champion, former UFC champion, legit badass, but he's only a part-timer kind of guy.

  • HHH- part time actual wrestler, notorious for trying to make himself look good and important

  • Other- Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, and there is a laundry list of very good talents that haven't gotten the push yet to be champ- Bray Wyatt, Kevin Owens, Dean Ambrose. Maybe even surprise entrants too, like the Rock, or injured former champ Daniel Bryan , or injured John Cena.

No one knows exactly what's going to happen. Will they do the predictable thing? or will they go out on a limb? You never really know...and that's what makes the WWE great.
