When I wrote my response out, despite countless examples I could point to, the person that immediately sprang to mind was a woman whose response to virtually everything uncomfortable is to run away, literally and figuratively. Example: she had an argument with her roommate, left her apartment, called me and one of her other friends to tell us an abbreviated version of what happened as she was driving west on the interstate with no particular destination in mind… and then she turned her phone off. She returned three days later and acted as if all of this was perfectly normal. She still doesn’t wanna talk about the issue with us or the roommate, despite it being one since before they so much as put down a deposit. She’s 29, she’ll be 30 in two months and just finally moved outta her parents’ house in June.
