they basically weren't allowed to have snacks with their friends, it was really weird. i remember specifically one time "HIDE THE COOKIES HIDE THE COOKIES!!". we were just three 10-11 year old kids eating some cookies and playing video games, its like we were doing something wrong. and these people were not hard up for money, not even close. their childhood home would probably sell for $750,000 right now.

another time i ate dinner over their house and i remember the mom and dad having steaks and me and my friend and his brother getting burger meat molded into patties and told something like "pretend theyre steaks". not round patties like they were meant for burgers, like they forgot the buns. but actually more of an oval, like it was definitely on purpose. i dont think there is anything wrong with that specifically, i just thought it was really funny.

there were house as a kid you knew you could open the fridge and get a drink, other houses where just a casual "hey can a grab a drink" was normal and then houses like this, where you were kind of afraid to ask for a drink unless they brought it up first.

the parents were otherwise nice people
