What is that one book/movie/video game moment that always hits you right in the feels?

When I was younger I played Ogre Battle 64. I made my way through that game killing every enemy on every level so I could get as much experience and equipment for my army as I possibly could. When the end rolled around, I was devastated. . . Somehow the actions I took, believing that they were in the best interest of the people I was leading a revolution for, ended up being the reason they all saw me as some sort of sick minded monster in the end.

Years later I looked up the mechanics of that game and discovered that the only way to get the 'best' ending was to play through in the least intuitive way possible. Take no cities, kill no enemies, basically make things as hard on yourself as you possibly can.

In that game, no one valued a victory that left everyone on my side alive and well. They valued a victory in which occasional main characters, my friends, died needless deaths and the enemy were still out there. . . presumably still not liking that me and my side had control.

If you want uncomfortable moral complexity, this is the way to introduce it to people.
