I was also an insecure smoker. I'd go way out of my way to smoke where people wouldn't be, and if they came near I moved farther. I tucked my lips over my teeth so that I could prevent nicotine stains(which worked great btw, I also do this with coffee), and I shut off my nasal cavity when I exhaled, because when I was young I saw nicotine stains in my cousins moustache directly under his nostrils. I blew the smoke over my head. When I was done, I would wash to my elbows and then my face, and pop in a stick of gum.
After I quit, I asked my non-smoking friends how bad I smelled while I was a smoker, and they said I only ever smelled as I came back inside from smoking.
Also, an e-cig worked wonders as a cessation method for me, I'm sure you get the spiel, but if you REALLY want to quit, give it a try. My plan was something like 5 a day for a week, 4 a day for a week etc., and I actually quit in the middle of the 4 a day week. Just didn't see the reason in getting that next pack. No withdrawals, no anger, none of that. Might not be a common experience, but it worked here!
