What is the one thing in your life that you wish you could have done differently?

I wish I would have tried a little harder at keeping my last girlfriend around. She left town for about a month and I could only contact her by letter, and about two weeks in (as I'm counting down the days till she gets back) she explains to me that being away just made her start to lose our connection since our relationship was still new and that she wanted to "take a break". As soon as I read that, I knew what it really meant. It was a really hard thing to hear through a letter. We had only been dating for a few months when this happened but I just feel like our relationship could have grown into something much bigger, and it sucks going from being in a great relationship one day, to reading a page of paper and realizing it's over. I'm mostly over it at this point but there's still times where I think about it and wonder if there's something that I could have done... thanks for letting me vent Reddit.
