What is one way-out-there political belief or position you hold that most people would think is nuts?

It all deals with regulating government action, not banks or corporations.

Who do you think holds the weight in terms of policy making? Corporate influence is so substantial there is almost no public policy. In terms of political subversion and its effects on "government action" the BOR does protect you from banking influences and corporate interests. I mentioned these two institutions specifically as they are always the primary antagonists working against public policy. Which is precisely what the founding fathers were dealing with when they wrote the BOR.

The real truth of the matter is, as you and I know, that a financial element in the larger centers has owned the Government ever since the days of Andrew Jackson — and I am not wholly excepting the Administration of W. W. The country is going through a repetition of Jackson's fight with the Bank of the United States — only on a far bigger and broader basis. Letter to Col. Edward Mandell House (21 November 1933); as quoted in F.D.R.: His Personal Letters, 1928-1945, edited by Elliott Roosevelt (New York: Duell, Sloan and Pearce, 1950), pg. 373. It would not let me link to the quote in wikiquotes so I provided a screenshot for you.

I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale. Letter to John Taylor (28 May 1816) ME 15:23.

A current example would be marijuana and its current listing as a schedule 1 drug:

The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse. The drug or other substance has no currently accepted medical treatment use in the U.S.

Obviously it is widely held that marijuana does have medical benefits. please note I am just looking at this from a legal perspective only. Whether it should be legal or there's not enough research or whatever is another discussion. We are usually given some arbitrary reasons why the schedule 1 status is being maintained. In reality drug testing companies, pharmaceutical companies, for-profit prisons, police unions, and alcohol brands spend huge sums of money each year to keep marijuana illegal because it ensures job security and profits. THIS is by far the biggest reason marijuana is still illegal. These industries previously mentioned spend huge amounts of money in the form of lobbying and campaign contributions.... As a result every time someone is arrested for marijuana a police officer is unwittingly working for one of the for mentioned industries and not the public to whom they swore an oath. This is one example of how corporate influence can effect "government action" even down to the policing of policies.
