What opinion do you have, that makes you an asshole?

I feel we, as a species, have reached a tipping point between sustainability and evolutionary progress. I romanticize the idea of an apocalyptic situation that forces humanity to re-think their breeding and educational practices. Wherein predisposition to genetic (susceptibility to certain conditions like autism to muscular distrophy), behavioral (aggression or compulsion), and physical (poor immune systems and obesity) traits could be completely re-wired so that only the most healthy, intelligent, and those of agreeable temperament could carry on their genes into the future. Which would best be suited for if we were to colonize another planet I guess. We're already kind of screwed here.

I am of course talking about eugenics. Were it not for Hitler screwing everything up. It might have been an easier subject for more people to approach. Then again I understand you can't tell a woman what to do with her uterus, nor a couple that they should not have children. It's a sad, but proven fact, that the undereducated are the ones who often over-copulate. There is no system in place to prepare individuals for the financial, mental, economical, and environmental stress their offspring may cause. I personally do not wish to have children because I am cognitive enough to understand I do not possess the ability to care for a child emotionally or financially, nor do I wish to be responsible for additionally filling the oceans and valleys with more garbage.

As often as I hear my friends say they want children I can't help but cringe internally and hope they can limit it to at least one or hold off for a few years as many of them are far too young and still have so much potential. I am filled with absolute disgust whenever I see a family of 3+ screaming children, and unnattentive or irresponsible adult with yet another bun in the oven. All I can do is sigh resignedly and hope the earth can take another hit, fully aware and filled with absolute sorrow that those children may not have a future, jobs, or even clean water at this rate.

Unfortunately whenever I have attempted to logically rationalize these ideals to any one they think I'd be fine with mass genocide and chemical sterlization as well. Which I assure you is not the case. I may have a grim outlook on humanity, but I am well aware that the only thing that is going to take our numbers down by our own doing would be widespread disease, a mass war, or pollution and famine. Sadly it's not a matter of if, but when at this point. Which sounds a hell of a lot more unpleasant than genetic testing and breeding restrictions at this point.

TL;DR: We've been giving the middle finger to Darwinism for years and our species and planet has paid for it dearly. Maybe it's time to rethink humanitarian approach to eugenics.
