What other career paths could I consider with a science/teaching background?

I don't know if you still reading this post but I couldn't help myself & comment just in case.

I'm also originally from the metro-Detroit (just a bit North of Toledo to be exact) but I escaped right after high school. From what gathered most with a biology background struggle finding work around the region. I know an old friend is working at Arby's part time with the same background. Another became a EMT/firefighter.

If you can handle it I would look into teaching. It seems like that is probably one of the most successful route for work in the region. If you go high/middle school route not so much at the community college level. I know where I relocated you get an emergency teaching cerficate but I can't remember if Michigan as that as an option.

Same goes with nursing. With the biology degree in the background you might be able to cut off a semester or two of time. I know St.Marys college (university) in Toledo have good placement post graduating. I also think Monroe County Community College does well placement wise & if you are in that area the county & Promedica are in the early process of building a very fancy hospital so will likely to be hiring a lot more people soon.
