What other religious practices are as hard to maintain as Islam's 5 daily prayers?

the Left Hand Path. (referring to Ford:

"We go without trepidation, without fear, and by intelligent thought before action, without regret. We do not rely on opposites or polar extremes to define us: only our own dictates and movements. We ascertain, persevere, transcend, conquer and bleed our self forged core into the furthest reaches of the indefinable. The Black Flame is enhanced, and our Daemonic potential is slowly realized."

(Black Flame: God-ly spirit of each individual. Potential: being not helpless, some might call it "having power" but it is rather to have control over one's life - and maybe afterlife)

Method: Meditation (No prescriptions, as wished and time allows, a daily practice is good)

Overcoming oneself, overcoming one's fear, 'going out of the comfort zone', overcoming (one's) boundaries. Similar to Buddhism, however (from those traditions that I know, at least) so much more demanding.

Why doing it? - (my reason) to progress, it is incredible effective, one becomes "authentic" so to speak, the 'true self' comes out. However, it is so very demanding, as said.
