(self.TalesFromRetail) submitted 2 hours ago * by PeacefulCamisado I work at your typical retail store, although our customers are all members of the military, retirees, and their families, with the occasional civilian government worker here and there. As a result, it's also fairly common that we serve immigrants and foreigners. Usually the 'worst' thing to come from this is language barrier. Even right now, I'm not sure if what happened today is a result of cultural difference or just this one individual. A woman came in today, I'd say late 40s, early 50s, who had some sort of European accent. The transaction started normally, but then a couple of female soldiers lined up behind her--it was lunch, so they had time to grab something before heading back to work. In one's case, some baby clothing. European Lady: "Ooh, is it a boy?" Soldier: "Oh, uh, yes! " EL: "Oh yes, I could tell because of your chin. " S: "What?" EL: "Your chin--if it were a girl, it would have that little line in the middle (the dimple)" This is where the woman reaches out and touches in middle of this soldier's face, on her chin, right where the line would be. S: shocked EL: Yes, my grandmother told me all about this. It would be more puffed out. proceeds to pinch the corners of the soldier's chin to puff it out S: "Oh, uhhh, is that so?" EL: "Yes. She also told me how to tell how big the child will be. The week before it's born, measure your fists when they're clamped together." grabs soldier's hands and puts them together to demonstrate S: "....thanks." During this time, I chose to work on some of the pin-pad prompts this lady was ignoring, since I didn't want interrupt her, uh, clearly important lessons and the line was getting longer. Finally she finishes, and before she leaves, this lady reaches over the counter, puts an arm over my shoulder and on my back, and pulls me forward to give me a kiss on the ear/cheek. ... She takes her leave afterward, thankfully. I get to the soldier and her friend, both equally as put off. S: "So, do you know her???" Me: "Nope." commentsharesavehidegive goldreport no comments (yet) so guyz i hope u enjoyed my styory! it litttetrally gapprned 2 hourz ago. lik and subsvrib for moar!
