At what point does ones survival trump anothers comfort?

This seems to be a very open-ended question and therefore the answer changes on the initial scenario.

Are we talking ethics in the sense of where, for instance, you and another individual are on an abandoned island and there is only enough food for one person on the entire island, and you have to decide whether to save yourself versus the other person? Is this the sort of ethics you're relating to in "survival" or?

What are you exactly relating to when you say "survival"? As I mentioned above? Or maybe your natural state of living and personal development in the sense of "survival" and how as a result, it impacts others? You need to be more specific.
