What Do the Police Actually Do and Was Defund the Police Right?

This contradicts the official statements of Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Regional Director Victor Escalon, who says police showed up at 11:44, and who also doesn't describe any injured officers.. This appears to be another case of the police saying one thing then later changing the story as more facts emerge. If two officers actually took fire, why isn't the department speaking about this, using it in their repeated public attempts to defend themselves from charges that they did nothing?

"UVALDE, Texas – Images released to ABC News show where gunfire penetrated the cap of a U.S. Border Patrol agent who responded to Tuesday’s school shooting in Uvalde."

This was not one of the police officers. This is one of the heroes who actually stopped the shooting - an off-duty federal agent operating totally independently from the police force.
