What popular thing on the Internet has everyone forgotten about?

For all the young people out there, one of the earliest instances of something going viral, which you have almost certainly never heard of:

https://web.archive.org/web/19990421044406/http://www.hamsterdance.com/

The link only plays the song once, but on the original web site it was looped so it would play forever.

Along with the Dancing "Ugachaka" Baby, the Hamster Dance was one of the first Internet Memes. Condescending Wonka, Grumpy Cat, and Psy all have these pioneers to thank for their Internet ubiquity. A savvy Canadian art student named Deidre LaCarte created the Hamster Dance in a contest to see who could generate the most web traffic. As we know from Buzzfeed and your younger cousin's Facebook statuses, cute animals always win. Diedre won the contest and then some with the power of 4 simple animated GIFs and the dopest background music around. The Hamster Dance exploded in popularity, becoming an office prank, the inpiration [sic] for several pop hits, and a major theme in the cinematic masterpiece, Are We There Yet?, which we expect to see join the Criterion Collection any day now.
