What was a problem at your job that was so bad and never got better, which caused you to quit?

Oh man... this question brings up some memories.

I used to work in local news. Our local station was owned by a national conglomerate, so our policies trickled down from the mother company.

Anyhow... we had a LOT of fucked up employees at my station.

One engineer had been arrested for tying his wife up in their basement for over a month. He was obviously mentally unstable. He even brought a handgun to work one day and was waving it around. So he MUST have been fired, right?

Nope.

According to my boss, the company needed to build a bigger case against him, otherwise he might file a countersuit and get a fat settlement. Apparently, our safety wasn't a concern.

Another employee was a late stage alcoholic. He used to hide whisey in a Honey Bear bottle and get trashed every shift. When he'd work the night shift, he'd wander from office to office stealing things. He even hit the General Manager's office on multiple occasions. The GM is the head of the station. It's like robbing the CEO.

The station had cameras. There's video footage of this guy stealing from just about everyone's office. Did he get fired?

Nope.

Company needed to build a bigger case before letting him go.

I grew to wonder what the fuck a person had to do to get fired from this company. No one ever got fired. The risk of litigation seemed to be more important than anything. They'd rather risk an engineer with a handgun killing people, than pay for a lawsuit.
