What purpose does building really serve in season 8?

I've been pondering on something like this for a while...

It took me some time to come to the realization that... Outbuilding and outgunning doesn't work. It used to... But the thing is, with creative and playgrounds in the game, people are far better at building and shooting than they ever were before. Let's just say the average player... And so when you fight the average player, you can only reliably build so fast and be so precise. And the rest becomes RNG. So, if you build as fast as you can and shoot as precise as you can, ideally, you still only stand a 50% chance out out RNGing the other average player.

And I think that's what Pros understand. You go look up a YouTube video on how to be a Fortnite pro .. they'll all teach you the same thing... Some builds, and how to build faster... But if it's that simple... Why do pros still demolish lobbies?

Strategy. I feel like a majority of the player base just goes in .. W keys if you will and build and shoots and tries you know to outbuild and use building strategy against an opponent by coning or whatever... But what really needs to be learned, is what happens outside of just the screen. The things you can't show on YouTube... Thought process.... And this is something I've been working on, because I'm naturally very analytical anyways... I'm trying to go into every engagement, not reacting to what my opponent does, but go in with a strategy to finish the fight. I mean, the opponent could do something bizarre and change things up forcing me to react, but.... Rather than reacting, I try to just change my initial strategy mid fight to accommodate how my opponent is playing...

So every engagement becomes...

I'm sneaking up on an opponent... This is how I will engage this fight... My opponent sneaks up on me... This is how I will engage this fight... My opponent is landing in me.... This is how I will engage this fight... My opponent is boxed in below me... This is how I will engage this fight..

Etc..

Basically creating a designated plan of attack, and drilling those into your head so that when something happens, you automatically know what you need to do in any given situation... Rather than trying to react to reach individual move.. you have already planned for a specific movement.

Sorry for long reply.. I've been thinking a lot about this...
