What really mattered to you when buying your home? Did it turn out to matter?

Location, and yes having a sub ten minute commute is amazing! 10/10 school district. It actually is much better than an 8/10 school district. The services offered, the specials, the trips, the extracurricular activities, the library, all of it is much much better. It is worth the difference in tax rates.

Cul de sac location - this is my second home on a cul de sac and frankly I love it. I don't have people speeding down my block for no reason.

4 bedrooms, colonial home. Every room in my home is used on a daily basis.

Garage - love being able to house my car, especially in the winter.

Flat land - nice for entertaining outside.

Hill - kids like to sled. They would prefer a higher hill. I like the height because I can still walk up it to plant things.

Hard wood floors - like because you can see where you need to clean easier.

Thing I gave up - basement. I am 99% of the time ok without it. It would have been nice to have, but it would have increased the purchase price another 100k. That was just beyond our budget. I would much rather have the money than spend it, so I am ok without it.
