My son's father (who moved out almost immediately after I found out I was pregnant) thought that he should be praised for making tiny contributions because he "didn't even want this baby." He would still brag to his friends about this kid and talk about how amazing a father he is, and I should be grateful for anything that he has done. Basically, I didn't abort so everything he does is "extra" and "above and beyond."

Until my son was about one and a half, I lived a couple miles away from his dad because I wanted them to have a relationship. He resisted seeing him constantly. Literally spent maybe 12 hours total with him that entire time.

I ended up being really broke and since he clearly wasn't interested, I moved back to my home town. Dude has paid child support maybe 4 times, has never tried to visit, and calls once every few months just to tell me that I'm a bitch because I "won't let him see his kid."

I would welcome his visit if he ever wanted to, but I don't even want to know the kinds of stories he's going to come up with to explain his absence.
