What is a relationship deal-breaker for you that others might not agree with?

Prior US Army here.

Any person (obligatory "IMO") who has a problem with that is, simply, not military. At our core, we take an oath to respect and uphold our constitution. At its core is the right of every man, woman, and child to live their lives with freedom (not being beheld to any person) and liberty (the freedom to do as you wish as long as you do not infringe on the rights of another.)

The "fun" irony of being military is that those very same tenets you choose to defend MUST be removed from you (while active), and as an extension of you, your family, in order for the military to exist. We get this. Our spouses get this. It's an unfortunate fact.

No true soldier would think less of you for acknowledging that reality. Why would we defend your right to autonomy then degrade you for exercising it? The core of what makes our great country work is the shear amount of diversity within in. To pretend that "all" should be "of one mind" is the antithesis of what it is to "Be American".

This is why we say we love the flag, but will defend your right to burn it.

Eh... /end soapbox?
