What’s the best life tip or advice you received when you were depressed (other than medical attention)?

It is tough because everything about modern life is wrong. Schools and Workplaces have been deemed “Factories of unhappiness” yet you cannot avoid being forced into them. TV is maybe one of the worst things yet the average adult watches hours a day, the food we eat is horrible for us, and our whole lives are built around comfort, convenience and instant gratification, all of which go against how our dopamine circuits are supposed to work. Social media takes it all to another level and society expects you to go along with all these self destructive behaviors, and if you dont, you are socially ostracized which, since we are social creatures, is also depressing. There is hope, but it is an uphill battle. Cling on to whatever things can bring you joy because most of our modern condition is not made to actually build self actualized people living fulfilled lives.
