What’s the best piece of advice you’d give to a suicidal person?

My advice to a suicidal person:

I survived a suicide attempt.

Since then: EVERY. SINGLE. MOMENT. I'm grateful I lived.

I might be crying on the floor, but there's the floor. There are my eyes. There are my fingers on the carpet. There is my mind, working, wanting. Here I am.

It's hard to choose something other than death when you've arrived at the point in your decision tree where death is the only option. I know how hard it is. I chose death.

But oh my god, am I grateful that I get to wake up and choose to eat a whole package of gushers today. Or watch a movie I'd never seen. Or just to hold a friend.

It is ALWAYS worth it to live.

You are loved by the world who bore you. You belong to the earth and the sky and the waterfalls. The wind whispers your name, and you can whisper back. You belong here.

Please stay.
