wearing contacts for extended periods of time.

when i was little my dad rarely took his contacts out, the longest stretch was for 6+ months straight. the contacts fused to his eyeballs and he had to have them surgically removed when i was 10 or so. now he just wears glasses.

a little while later i was at a birthday party, and the girl’s mom said something about wearing her contacts for months at a time. i immediately told her (in true 10 year old, know-it-all fashion) that my dad had to have his surgically removed. i guess she went to the optometrist a few days later and her dr told her that had she worn them even a couple days longer she would have had to have surgery.
