What’s a dark secret you only learned about after that person died?

I'm an only child and my parents were divorced when I was very young. My Dad wasn't the greatest dad(absent) for most of my formative years but he was better after I grew up. My Mom and I were pretty close my whole life. She got sick and cancer took her pretty suddenly. I called my Dad and we got together for dinner where he casually asked if my Mom ever told me I have a brother? My mother got pregnant from her first boyfriend in high school. The family "sent her away" to some distant relatives house where she lived for the remainder of the pregnancy. She then gave the baby up for adoption. She told my Dad about it and swore him to secrecy. It may have been the only promise he ever kept to her so I was really skeptical and Dad was a bullshitter of epic proportions when he was young. I called an old school friend of my Moms that I knew and asked her about it. She said my Mom was never pregnant. But wait she says, my Mom did move away for most of her junior year. So there's a half brother out there somewhere, if he's still alive. Moms dark secret. Not so dark I suppose but a pretty big one for me.
