"What’s the deal with DC's Convergence?" - everything you want to know! [Ask the DC Multiverse Historian]

OK, well, lets break this down.

I said past tense, as in i went and regretted it.

My apologies, it seemed you had implied you were saying you mentioned a point already mentioned in the article because you hadn't clicked through.

Firstly, nothing says authoritative source like a wordpress blog. The sidebar articles all scream of someone who has heard of clickbait but can only half-arsedly pull it off.

I started it as a Wordpress.com blog, instead of bothering it put it on proper hosting, as it took 5 mins and let me see if people were interested and if it's worth the effort. As the feedback - including in this very thread, but also on other pieces I've posted - has been great, I guess they are and it is.

As for clickbait, I don't think you know what that term means. From Wikipedia:

"Clickbait is a pejorative term describing web content that is aimed at generating online advertising revenue, especially at the expense of quality or accuracy, relying on sensationalist headlines to attract click-throughs and to encourage forwarding of the material over online social networks."

Now, it's true I work in digital media, advising companies and organisations on how to use content to generate revenue, but that's hardly the point of those links, nor are they clickbait. Namely:

  1. There are no ads on the site I benefit from (although I understand Wordpress may show some occasionally, which happens with Wordpress.com hosted sites)
  2. I pride myself on the quality and accuracy. The Hawkman/Hawkgirl post is over 12,000 words long simply so it can be as accurate as possible, but to imply that any piece on the blog doesn't actually contain the information they claim to contain.
  3. Writing a piece that explains a character, such as Static, and then calling the post "what's the deal with Static" is hardly sensationalist.

Secondly you have no sources of information that aren't readily available, you aren't Heidi Mcdonald with 'the beat' so there isn't any inside talk or honest responses that could of been had with say a two minute conversation with DC staff, or even some of the caretaker editors for the convergence event. Those guys are out there, friendly and let everyone know about this months ago.

Yep, and despite that information coming out over the last few months people are still posting on /r/DCcomics in our weekly Q&A thread asking what it's about. As you can see, /u/BallUHouston and /u/shlomo_baggins found it useful in this thread and heaps more felt the same when I posted it to /r/DCcomics.

It's not that it's hard to find out a lot of what I write about, it's just that it might take time and effort and that it's hard if you don't have prior knowledge. I never purported to have any kind of insider information or scoop, but simply that I was going to explain the big, upcoming event - which I did.

basicly, your post added no new to the conversation, is dated news and smacks of self promotion with trying to drive traffic to a backyard web-blog.

Plenty of people did find it helpful, and regardless of when the news found out. I don't care about driving traffic to a blog it's just a better format to answer long form questions, and include images, than Reddit posts/comments. I spend the time writing these posts because people find them interesting and helpful.

I don't care if you read or like my blog but your arguments are ridiculous and I am drunk. Either your problem is with the factual information I provided or with the fact that other people less immersed in the ins and outs of comic book lore/news might need such help. Either way:

Haters gonna hate!
