What’s the longest time you have been single since becoming an adult, and why were you single for that long?

At 28 I've never not been single. I've never had sex. I've never kissed anyone.

The reason - I went to 6 schools by 8th grade. I was picked on for being very short and smart. Learned how to defend myself against bullies, but not how to make friends. Never got close to people because I knew they'd be gone before long. My family were my social life. My biggest fear was losing them. In 9th grade my mom got breast cancer and my grandfather was diagnosed with alzheimer's. Spent all the time I could with them. Between age 20 and 26 my grandfather, grandmother, mother, dog, father, best friend, and cousin all died. Then a pandemic hit...

Silver lining is I'm extremely talented in many ways and in my solitude I've turned those talents into skills. I truely believe that once I go back to school I can turn it all around. If the world hasn't broken me yet it never will. Socializing is a skill and with practice I've always succeeded. Look out world. Here I come.
