What’s one irreplaceable module that you couldn’t be without now?

There's some that literally couldn't be replaced (by anything but a new copy of themselves):

  • Fumana: Super important for my process, sounds amazing.
  • Serge ResEQ: Haven't found anything that sounds like it when applying feedback. Cannot get enough of this sound, even after over fifteen years :D
  • ER-301: Can do anything you want if you know how to make it happen. A little Max in a box with lots of CV. And extremely well designed to be easy to use. Can't say that about the potential competitors.
  • Teletype: Until I had one, I regularly got to places in my patches where I wanted to have something that can make decisions - If this voltage is over x V, then do this, else do that. That's very hard to patch up, especially if the conditions get more complex (for the example, you'd just need a comparator). Teletype makes it easy.
  • Erbe Verb: The best implementation of a Reverb for modular synthesis that I've seen so far. Especially the only reverb that has to live in a modular system and isn't just a pedal that you can screw into your rack.
  • Crucible: I don't care for it as a hihat (where we're going, we don't need any hihats), but it does the "resonator" thing better than Rings by miles, at least for my taste/music

And then there's some modules that I could replace with similar modules if I had to, but wouldn't want to:

  • Sapel: Single best random source in Eurorack. Pretty much two copies of a SoU with every single aspect improved by little great design decisions.
  • Brenso: Same, but for complex oscillators.
  • Batumi: Small, but very usable, all the features you'd want from LFOs without having to switch modes or anything. And if you don't mind switching modes and diving, there's a whole lot of features that I don't even need :D
  • Linnaeus: The single most interesting filter design I've heard in the last decade. Sounds glorious.
  • Toppobrillo StereoMix: This one would really just be annoying for me if I had to switch it out. For exactly my use case, it has the perfect combination of features and size. The only thing I found that does everything right is the WMD mixer, but that one is way larger and has more channels than I need.
  • Maths: It's Maths.
