What’s a realistic way to reduce gun violence in America?

I’ll speak on one small part of it. Make schools, particularly those in low income areas and inner cities, a place where children of future generations feel like they can be safe. I say this more from the perspective of: teach kids emotional and social skills, and have the right people do it by paying teachers more, and make teaching a profession that people don’t have to sacrifice livelihood to get into. I consider school to be a good social safety net in that sense. Even if you have nothing to your name, there are 17 years (including pre K) where your kid can have the opportunity to develop a brain to think for themselves. College? Not a requirement. Go into a trade if you like it.

Now the completely unrealistic part. gun violence is a lot more than that unfortunately. I want to get to the point where we accept that the second amendment does not give you the unlimited right to take any weapon, anywhere, for any reason whatsoever. Sound familiar? That’s from Scalia’s majority opinion in DC v. heller. It’s one of (and I truly mean, ONE of after centuries of case law) the reasons you don’t have the constitutional right to a cannon in your backyard “for fun”. You have the constitutional right to protect yourself, in your home, with a firearm. That is reasonable, sure. I’m not sure how purchasing an AR-15 will qualify for that in the future. Id like to be able to move past this obsession with building arsenals, and purchasing a gun being easier than getting a drivers license. At least this focuses on the assault rifle part, and then further dives into the street violence and suicide issues in some way I am not enough of an expert to prescribe
