They can still bring it to court, it might get thrown out but it is still a lot of expenses involved.

If it gets thrown out that's not a lot of expenses—if a case gets kicked on summary judgment that means it didn't even make it to discovery, much less trial.

It is how a lot of big companies handle people they don't like but can't do anything about, bury them with frivolous lawsuits and offer to have them all stricken in exchange for something.

We're not talking about a company, we're talking about a family. If a family doesn't have a reasonable case it will never even make it to summary judgment, no lawyer will take it.

It's pretty hard to get an estate away from a widow unless there's some compelling reason involved.
