What’s the scariest story you know that is 100% true?

Sorry for the long, probably terribly formatted first post. It will probably get buried anyways. These stories I have aren't necessarily scary. Just scandalous tales I have been sort of close to growing up in military housing. This first one is kind of horrifying though. When I was in middle-school I lived right at the beginning of a cul-de-sac in a military housing neighborhood in a pretty nice city. One day the entire entrance to the cul-de-sac was blocked off by police cars and news van. A mother of four children had fallen asleep, so the kids were all upstairs playing amongst themselves and their german Shepard mix dog. Things got out of hand and the dog ended up attacking one of the children, a 2 year old boy. From what my mom told me, the remaining children ran to wake up their mother, but couldn't because she was drunk or intoxicated, but I'm not sure if that detail is 100% true because this was ruled an accident. The father was on deployment overseas. The children couldn't seem to wake their mother up so they run to their neighbors house who was either a nurse or had some sort of first aid training. When the neighbor saw the state of the two year old child, she left the room and immediately vomited on the stairway. From what I heard, the dog had ripped the child's face off, but I'm not sure if that was just an exaggeration. What a horrific experience. Imagine how those children must have felt having witnessed something so horrible happen to their brother right in front of them, and being able to do nothing to stop it. Here's a short article about it. http://www.cbs8.com/story/12905136/death-of-2-year-old-boy-mauled-by-dog-ruled-an-accident-dog-is-put-down

My mother was also friends with someone who lived in a different military housing complex who was neighbors with this dude who killed his wife and then turned the gun on himself. Their one year old baby was in the same house unharmed. I think my mom's friend is the neighbor they interview in this article. I believe she told my mom that the team deployed a flash bang into the house before entering, but once again, I'm not sure because I was younger and the details are blurry now. http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sdut-swat-responds-to-shooting-call-in-serra-mesa-2011dec21-story.html

While we were living in that same house, another crazy thing happened that was kinda funny. My sister and I had stayed up late because it was summer. We were downstairs, and I had fallen asleep watching a movie. I wake up to my sister telling me there is someone knocking on the door. It's like 3 in the morning so I'm shitting bricks. I go wake up my parents who open the front door to a wild scene. Some dumb teenager had stolen his dad's car, (I think he was driving to the cul-de-sac to pick up his girlfriend) and somehow he jumped the curb and flipped the car halfway, coming to a stop by crashing into the tree in our front yard. No one was hurt, but imagine opening your front door to a crowd of people, a couple policemen, and a flipped car on your front lawn at 3 in the morning. The weirdest part was, neither me nor my sister heard the accident.

Another story that I have even less details about because I was in 3rd or 4th grade. We were living in a different Military Housing complex in a different part of San Diego. Our street was a close-knit neighborhood. We often had barbecues and parties and we all knew each other. At one point a couple moved in next to my family. We shared a front porch and our houses were connected. They were kind of white trash, but that didn't really matter, because we tried not to judge people for superficial details. Well apparently they came under investigation for child abuse after their infant was found with bruises on its head. The baby might have had some damage to the ribs too but I'm not sure. My parents always heard crying and pounding coming from the wall we shared with them. They were really sketchy people and I wouldn't be surprised if the husband was a child molestor/predator. During one party, a group of girls, including my sister were over at his house (I think he had a daughter their age). He pressured them all into drinking alcohol even though their ages ranged from 12-15. My sister claimed that she didn't want to drink it, but he kept pressuring them, so she pretended to drink it and spit it in the toilet. I'm pretty sure more happened that night that I was never told because it seem liked my sister was not 100% truthful. Cops were never called about the underage drinking incident.

This last one is less scary, and more humorous. In that same military complex, I had this friend that my mom said I wasn't allowed to play with because his parents were nudists. That in itself isn't that weird, but I later found out that my mom was friends with their neighbors. Their houses weren't attached so you could clear see each others hous because their was a path to the nearby park separating them. The nudists invited them over once and during conversations, the nudists told their neighbors, "You know, if you ever wanted to walk around naked in your house, you could. We wouldn't be able to see you through your windows." Fairly harmless comment from the missionaries of the nudist lifestyle until you realize that they had probably been peeping at them through their windows, and they more than likely could in fact see them from the position of their windows. Moral of the story, a lot of weird, sketchy shit goes down in military housing. The houses look like any other suburban neighborhood from the outside, but who knows what kind of weird stuff is going down inside. Mental ill/impulsive people, coupled with close-knit families that all know each other is like a recipe for scandal. I truly think that the military should do more to help those with mental illness in their ranks.
