What’s a small act of kindness you were once shown, that you’ll never forget?

When I was 15 I had attempted suicide. I had to stay in the hospital while waiting for a bed at a behavioral health facility to open up. Because of the circumstances, a nurse had to be in my room with me at all times. One of the nurses asked if I wanted to watch a movie and while flipping through DVDs I found Crossroads. It’s an awful movie but I loved Britney Spears and chose that.

I didn’t know she was going to sit by my bed and watch the whole movie through with me. I was actually pretty embarrassed because of how bad it is, but in my 20s now that moment still touches my heart. Her choosing to sit through that just to give a depressed teenage girl some company was actually very kind and still means a lot to me. No matter how silly it may seem, showing a little kindness can go a long way for someone.
