What’s something completely false that your parents told you as a child?

I've got two. My parents convinced young me that I had an older brother who I didn't remember because he died when I was young. When I asked how he had died they told me they had locked him in the garage where he starved to death. The real kicker was they told me that whenever the phone rang it was him calling from beyond the grave. Needless to say I was VERY afraid of answering the phone growing up.

One of my favorite book series was Harry Potter. My parents ended up going to some weird church thing where a speaker convinced them Harry Potter books and Pokemon cards were created to drive children to worship the devil. As soon as they came home they made me gather up all my Pokemon cards and Harry Potter books, which they proceeded to burn. So all through grade school I was the weird kid afraid of Pokemon and Harry Potter and would tell me friends that they were worshipping satan. And to this day I still haven't finished the last two books of the Harry Potter series.
