What’s something you saw as a kid that looked harmless but if you witnessed it now it would horrify you?

You’re right, it’s certainly not “horrifying” in a scary way, I interpreted it to mean shocking more than anything. My thought process in including this story was that if I, as an adult, found out that my child’s babysitter had rear ended someone then driven away with my child in the car, I would be extremely upset and disturbed (not to mention I would no longer trust them with my child). As a young child though, I fully accepted the babysitter’s explanation that “he must be fine and not care that we hit him because he didn’t get out of the car, and therefore it’s completely harmless to continue.”

I don’t recall how hard we hit him (clearly not too hard since the car was fine to drive away) but I can’t imagine he was okay with it at all
