What’s the stupidest thing you’ve seen a grown-ass adult get angry over?

This literally just happened to me at my buffet style restaurant today.

We don't charge for kids under 3, so long as at least one adult is purchasing a meal. Kids between age 4-12 are charged a lower rate.

This woman with 2 daughters, aged around 7-10, always expects free food for them since "they don't have a large appetite"... Even though they eat a reasonable amount, same as other children of similar age.

On their previous visit, she complained to me about the waitress because she had the audacity to ring up the kids' meals on the bill. I reluctantly wavered 2 small meals on that occasion, but explained the waitress was simply following company policy, and that any exceptions would need to be arranged with management on a case by case basis. However this guest kicked up a huge fuss over the waitress' alleged attitude, which I knew was untrue, clearly a perpetual victim.

Fast forward to today and they came back in. I explained to her before seating them that we would have to charge for the kids meals today and on any subsequent visits due to their age, and I wanted to be upfront about it, rather than surprising them with a full bill after they'd eaten. She said they're not likely to come back again after today if that's how we were going to be. I said I understood where she's coming from but we need to adhere to company policy.

Halfway through their meal, this guest pulled my colleague aside, who is another manager, and complained about my attitude, and for "singling her out". She also claimed that when she told me she wouldn't return, I said "that's fine by me", even though I was polite and professional.

She took head office's number to take this further. I'm sure the story she feeds them will be far more exaggerated than actual events, and there's a pretty good chance they will compensate her with a voucher.
