I used to work for a certain electronics repair company. We had a guy who always had problems with his laptop and would bring it in and start the complaining to us about his issues. We would show him how to use the laptop and sometimes we would send it out and he'd always come back. My coworkers hated this guy to the extreme and some refused to work with him altogether.
The man was an older gentleman in his late 50's who obviously had a drinking problem. He always dressed in polo and shorts, sometimes neat and then sometimes not. I never personally worked with him but could over hear conversations with him, and see the blood shot eyes, or smell the alchohol just from him walking up to the counter.
Well he came in one day and we were short handed so it was me and a tech The man stormed up to the counter dropped the laptop and said "My PC isn't working, this is the fourth time I have had to bring it in here cause it doesnt work right" He was clearly inebriated. " I demand to get a replacement since I've had so many problems."
This guy didnt realize that I had worked at summer camps for a decade ranging from shitty spoiled kids, to special needs camps were kids would litterally shit on the wall or other since I was 15. Suffice it to say my patience is better than a saint.
I try to be cordial ask him what the issue is, asked him to explain his issue in detail. Eventually he told me the keyboard wouldn't work sometimes and random legit apps would open or not work all the while slipping in and out of his tirade. I told him I'd bring it in the back and have the tech look at it quickly and apologized for his issues.
The tech wasn't happy and basically wouldn't look at. I took a look and was able to open a notepad and ya his keyboard was broken. During this I smelled alcohol thought it was just the smell lingering in my nostrils and then I felt my fingers were moist, I froze thinking it was something else..... However realized it had to be alchohol and sure enough upon closer inspextion it was, thankfully.
I went out and explained to the man that the keyboard was broken. That we could not fix it at all. He started screaming " Why wont you fix it, I payed good money for this, Get me someone who can help me NOW! Etc." The tech in the back came out front, the customer service people stared and the customers waiting in line too. I patiently let him rant, then told him "Sir, there appears to be alcohol inside the keyboard therefore we cant guarantee our work since theres now liquid inside your laptop." He then screamed for a manager, and demanded we fix this as it was clearly our alcohol and he just got it back from us.
I proceeded to flip the laptop over and shook it and little droplets came out splashing on the counter.
"Sir, as you can see and smell theres clearly alcohol inside the laptop. Also I am the manager currently on duty and I'd like you to leave the store now."
Also not a manager..
The man stormed off people watching, the tech in the back hugged me, and we never saw the guy again.
