What’s the stupidest thing you’ve heard a person say aloud in public?

Sophomore Year history in High School.

Girl in front of me was notorious for ridiculous questions. Such as: "Why did they put Egypt where it is?"

"Wait, that was real?!" (Upon learning that the sinking of the RMS Titanic was in fact a real event, and not just a good film)

A friend of mine on a city bus at least six or seven years ago, once heard a group of kids in the back talking about foreign policy. Didn't get the whole context but hearing "The Chinese bombed Pearl Harbor" seemed adequate to know their level of history.

Back in 2013, when I was riding the Staten Island Ferry back home, a tourist decided to strike up a simple conversation. Tourist: "Excuse me sir?" Me: "Yes?" Tourist: points to Staten Island in the distance "That's Staten Island, right?" Me: "Yes." Tourist: "It's an island right?" Me: "Well sir, last I checked, it's surrounded by water on 4 sides, and is named Staten ISLAND. So I do believe it is an island!" Tourist: "err..."
