What’s a tip that everyone should know which might one day save their life?

I'm a big fan of the reality survival show "Alone", despite hating both reality and survival shows. One of my best buds was a host on Dual Survivor (among other shows) and I have to lie to him about watching past season premiers. It's just not an entertaining genre, with one exception....

"Alone" is great, because their are no film crews and no objectives other than 'be the last person to tap out'. Competitors don't even get an indicator of how many people are still in competition.

I've admittedly only watched the first two seasons, because I'm not that big into TV, but I loved that Season 2 suberverted my expectations. I'm a former MI SpecOps guy, and I rooted for competitors that used what I consider goof fieldcraft, but the one person that kept ticking past everyone else was this one hippy girl that announced in the first episode that this would he a new experience.

Everyone else was building salting huts and fishing canoes, while she built a sweat lodge and carpeted her camp with green moss so it felt better on her feet. I knew she'd tap out at any moment, but despite experiencing worse setbacks than other competitors, she kept outlasting them.

At first, it was actually pretty grating to me, but later on it was obvious that these big burly survival guys were stressed and anxious every minute of every day about getting the most efficient and effective camp, whereas she took care of her basic needs, then focused on her mental wellbeing.

It was sort of an awakening for me. I'd still openly think I could crush her in that competition, but I'd secretly be worried every minute that she's casually chilling in her sweat lodge while I'm stressing over getting a precise balance of nutrition.
