That is something specially interesting for people that travel/move a lot across different continents and such.

I work with tourism and exchange, and it's always a crazy cultural shock when someone go study in Europe and realize how non-materialistic they are. And also when clients go study in USA and realize how materialistic they are. Here in South America we are kinda in a middle-way.

And don't get me wrong, i'm not saying all americans are dumb and terrible people, sometimes the person herself don't even realize how materialistic she is, and that she doesn't need to change phones within 4 years (let alone every new iphone), or buy a good looking car, brand clothes, etc. Sometimes it's a person with good heart but too immersed in that culture to realize there are so many things way more important in life.
