What’s a very common thing that you just cannot relate to?

it's one of the most classist and least environmentally conscious things you can do. I'm really surprised more redditors don't hate it.

First of all, it takes money to travel. Not only money, but also a job where vacation time is allowed. If you have a family, you quadruple the amount of money you need and you also need your wife to work a job that will allow you to line up your vacation hours. There's a reason the middle class don't travel at rates even remotely comparable to the upper class.

Secondly, airtravel will single handedly be the most CO2 emissions expensive thing you will likely do in your life. No single other thing in your life comes close. 1.5 metric tons per a transatlantic flight. The average american emits 16 tons. The average chinese person emits 8 tons. Vacation culture is a part of that differential.

third, selfies and self-glorification often underly the desire to vacation. If this thread is to be believed, we hate selfies and self-glorification.
