What’s the worst between-song banter or crowd work you’ve seen at a concert?

At Bonnaroo in 2015 my friend and I would start chants between sets just to have fun with people in the crowd. Saturday night let’s just say a lot of herb got involved and we decided to start a “When I say ‘Bonna’ y’all say ‘Roo!” chant. We got it going and pretty quickly we had the most participation we’d ever had in a crowd. Each time I shouted ‘Bonna’ it felt like hundreds more were joining in to shout back ‘Roo’. Well, after about 4 Bonna’s, my brain decided to completely short circuit and reboot. With the entire crowd around me waiting in anticipation for my next Bonna I stood there with a glazed over look for a good 5 seconds (what felt like an eternity) and just never responded back.

When I finally snapped back into focus and realized my mistake I immediately said “Aw, crap!” Everyone was a really good sport and I like to pretend folks were laughing with me and not at me, but I’ve never been so mortified in my life.

TLDR - Got really stoned at Bonnaroo, started a chant. Tons of people joined in. About halfway through my high brain forgot what I was doing and hundreds of people pointed and laughed at me.
