I have 10,800 karma. That 10,000 was from when I told the story of my friends grandfather who knew he was gay but stayed with his wife because he didn’t want to break her heart. He knew she loved him and he decided to be the best man he could. They had kids, grandkids, and lived together until she died a few years ago. He was in his 70s and came out as gay, surprised everyone. He tried to get on the dating scene but found it hard. He once said that everyone his age who was gay either died in the 80s (AIDS) or is already taken.

Ive never followed up that original post, but I can do that now. He ended up finding a companion in a man who was in his late 50s, named Gary, who took care of him and took him out on dates. They discussed marriage but that never happened. My friends grandfather died in February.
