What’s your hidden disability?

Not my spine, thankfully but my thoracic cavity. I had a tumour in there that needed getting out. Normally, they go in through the back but I had large breasts so the surgeon opted to go in along the side, as my scar is almost completely hidden under my left breast. The scar runs from just under my arm pit to just below a line draw straight down from my nipple, so it is quite large. The tumour was right next to my aorta so it required a bit of work to get to.

The issue is have is basically confused nerves. The get severed my the incision and most people are left with general numbness over a varying area. Some people also have pain, as the nerves are essentially confused and distressed so they send pain signals to the brain. I believe it can happen with any surgery but the larger the incision the greater the chance.

Good luck with your surgery. I hope it goes well and recovery doesn't take too long.
